We all have the responsibility to protect our Mother Nature. Do you know that we’re consuming over billion tons of fossil energy everyday? The point is, most of the fossil energy has many pollutants inside it, which is going to pollute the ozone layer and making the global warming matter becoming even worse!

Hence, if you care about the Earth, then you must try out this environmental friendly Solar USB Charger. Well, we’re going to show you the ways to make a Solar USB Charger, which is having at least 6v outputs. Honestly, it’s suitable for charging anything that uses USB.

Solar USB Charger

Before you start up the project, remember to prepare these following components:

  • A USB extension a/a cable

  • A Diode

  • A 6V solar panel

  • Soldering iron

  • Solder

  • One project box

  • Electrical Tape

  • Glue gun, and

  • Drill.

Firstly, you must cut the USB extender cable towards the bigger side; before you’re starting solder it. Leave an inch, cut off the shielding and get rid of everything (except the red and black wire).

Secondly, you have to solder the diode to the red wire from the solar panel, and the red wire from your extension cable to the diode. Remember to cover the spots with electrical tape.

Thirdly, drill a hole on the cables, so that it can go through on top. Glue around the extension cable on top of your project box.

Ta-da, you’re done with the Solar USB Charger. Now, it’s time to test it out!
