Did you ever think about how cool it would be to connect a single capacitive touch sensor directly to CPLD and have a sensor ready to be used in any design. Well now it is possible with Altera MAX IIZ CPLD.

As capacitive sensors are cheap and easy to use, they are very popular in embedded design. MAX IIZ CPLD has a dedicated pins for this. Built in circuit decodes a single switch, but you could use the approach for multiple switches, and it has programmable sensing thresholds that allow for different PCB layouts and dielectrics.
