Are you looking for the more efficient ways to create a smaller, excellent portability and longer batteries life discrete LED color organ?

Then, you have come to the right place…

Those components needed for this project:

  • Forty-nine 3mm LED in six different colors
  • A bunch of 1/8 watt resistors
  • A few tiny salvaged transistors
  • A microphone
  • Some trimmer potentiometers (Get it from dead CRT)
  • A four “AA” cell battery case (equipped with power switch)
  • A few small capacitors and diodes

LED organ

The main objective is to attach the LEDs and other components to the front of the battery case. This to form a compact unit, which can fit perfectly on a table, or even clipped it to a jacket as you want.

For conserve more spaces, the integrated circuits were eliminated, and substituted with small components. The signal is split up into three different channels, and each of the channel has it’s own filter circuit for easy adjustment.

Afterward, the signal will be sending out to an LED bargraph ladder circuit. There are three different colors can be displayed here: red/yellow, green/white, and blue/green. For extend the battery life, you need to increase the LED resistors to 1K. [link]
