Guys, do you know what RFID is?

RRID is a short acronym for “Radio-frequency Identification,” where it is an automatic identification method that relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called “RFID tags” or transponders.

The technology requires some extent of cooperation of an RFID reader and an RFID tag. An RFID tag is an object, where it can be applied to a product, animal or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some of the tags can also be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader!

Most RFID tags contain at least two important parts:

Integrated circuit – For storing and processing information, modulating and demodulating a radio-frequency (RF) signal.

Antenna – For receiving and transmitting the RF signal.

Some of the large company, such as Wal-mart use RFID tags and readers in their supply chain. This technology is also being used in mass transit systems in London and Hong Kong. Many mobile phones incorporate readers to enable e-money payments in shops and vending machines in Japan.

In the future, chipless RFID will be introduced to the market and it allows for discrete identification or tags without an integrated circuit, where it allowing tags to be printed directly onto assets at a lower cost.
