Technically, this RS485 to RS232 converter is to be used with PC computer to communicate with ROV, by simply using two wires in half duplex mode. After it, the send or receive mode will be selected by RTS signal.

Since the converter is to be designed as simple as possible, thus it has no added any unwanted features, just for the commercial grade products!

RS485 is one of the best alternatives for RS232 for long distance. For your information, the maximum length cable for RS232 is only 15m, while the RS485 is about 1200m! Furthermore, you can connect as many devices as you want to RS485 bus, unlike the RS232 that only allowed two devices.
