Have you ever thought of combine three different things: Bluetooth, GPS and Action Script? Ok, if you want to try this project, now you’re having the chance…

Remember, the main goal for this project is to get the GPS data into your Mac for the clear visualization experiments, thanks to the helps of ActionScript. In addition, you might want to opt in the Bluetooth in place of a USB converter as well.

Before you’re staring the project, you have to prepare these following materials:

  • 5V regulated power supply
  • BlueSMiRF Bluetooth Module
  • EM406A GPS Module
  • Extra 6-pin interface cable
  • 9V battery holder
  • A headers
  • A piece of breadboard
  • The solid 22-gauge wire
  • Some soldering iron

First of all, you should choose a switchable 3.3V/5V power supply kit, and you can make small modification to it, before you’re soldered a 9V battery adaptor to it.

Next, the BlueSMiRF module is a useful device, which you might want to connect the TX, RX to another serial device along with Vcc (4.5-5.5V). Also, don’t forget to ground it as well.

Lastly, you will approach to the EM406A GPS board, where it is a perfect tool for integrate with physical computing projects because of its output is in the serial form.

Below here is the schematic diagram for this whole project:

That’s all, guys and do enjoys yourself! [link]
